ABOUT
US
In
1983, Tony Raine developed and promoted the first BEATLES Tours for BEATLES
fans
to London and Liverpool.
Raines company, Rock Apple Tours, developed
contracts at that time to represent several
music-oriented tourist ventures
in the United Kingdom, including ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS.
" The Beatles at
Abbey Road" won an English Tourist Board award for outstanding tourist attraction
in 1984.Raine
became involved full time in the music business, his first love in 1985.
Since
then, Raine has pursued a successful career in New England as a concert producer,
promoter and manager, and during the past 14 years he has worked with countless
national and international artists.
When
Raine left the travel business, an idea was shelved for a number of years.
His
concept was to develop a tour for true music aficionados which would include visits
to all of the southeastern US locales from where the American music boom of the
fifties and sixties---
Blues, Soul, R&B, Rockabilly, Country & Western,
Bluegrass, Jazz--
-and major influential artists---Elvis Presley, Otis Redding,
Rufus Thomas, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams,
BB King, Muddy Waters, Carl Perkins,
Patsy Cline, even Jack Daniels!---emerged.
Raine
has spent the past two winters researching and developing his Southern Musical
Heritage Tour.
In the fall of 2006, he spent four weeks en route on a musical
journey through
Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee.
By touring,
using Rock Star Coaches, and traveling in a small group,
this experience
is personalized, friendly and intimate.
We invite you to bring your instruments
or use ours, jam in the Juke Joints where Muddy and BB got their start, and even
make a demo record at Sun Studios in Memphis.
Tours can be customized for
small groups, a group of friends or for corporate company adventure.
Whistling
Dixie Tours invite you and your group or company to
"TRAVEL LIKE ROCK
STARS"
and take this very special journey beyond your record collection.
